Overall Conference Marketing Plan

Conference name: Students Today, Leaders Tomorrow

Branding strategy & Product: This year our BOH4M0 class is organizing Port Credits first annual Leadership & Technology Conference. Our goal is to teach students about valuable leadership skills and about new technology softwares. Our Conference is open to all students at Port Credit Secondary School and even to some people in the community who may benefit from watching it. Some of the workshops provided are on organization, communication, motivation, teamwork and ethics with softwares including Twitter, PowToon, Google Docs, Prezi, Google+ and Outlook.

Social Media Campaign

  • Twitter strategy: One of the main marketing/advertising strategies we will be launching is a Conference Twitter Page. Twitter is one of the top social media sites used by students today and we will believe it will be the fastest way to spread the word about our conference. The CMO & MM's will be able to tweet from this account with interesting facts or information about the conference. Whether it be about a specific workshop or about the conference as a whole, tweets should be sent out daily once advertisement begins. Advertising through twitter will not only be used by our "Marketing Team" but by everyone else too! Students can retweet or tag the Conference Page/ Hashtag (Unknown) to get more students available to see it. Also, throughout the semester we have been meeting several people who we could invite to the conference and majority of them have provided us with their twitter name (example, @rhssbusiness, @maxedpotential, @theMPCF).
    • Twitter Name: @STLTConference (follow up guys and start tweeting!!)

  • Facebook strategy: Another popular social media site among teenagers is Facebook. By creating a Conference Page, students can like and comment on it, which is another great way to advertise the Conference. Almost the same as the Twitter page, the Facebook page will serve as a place to advertise the overall conference as well as individual workshops.

Website: On our Conference website, we will have a tab/page dedicated to each workshop team where they can explain exactly what their presentation will entail. This will be a great place for even our class to fully understand what the conference will consist of and also, will serve as a promotional website where we can talk about our Twitter and Facebook page so people are more aware of it. (http://www.stltconference.com/

Posters/Announcements: For those students who are not into social media or anything technological, we believe there are still many interesting and effective ways to advertise. First, by making and displaying eye catching and informational posters around the school, students will have the chance to see them everyday at school hopefully peaking their interest in coming to the conference. Second, we have announcements every day at school so why not advertise through that. By putting weekly announcements in, it will get the word out to teachers and students.

  • Homemade Posters being made my Rachel H & I
  • Online copy being made by Balaj & ??

Videos: In each workshop group, the Tech Manager is responsible for creating a "promotional video" about what their workshop will consist of. To further advertise the conference, the marketing managers and CMO can tweet or make a facebook post to get the message around.

Great start. You can also have a section on our Product. Make sure you read the Blog posts on the our class website as they are related to Marketing. What are we presenting and sharing with our customers. You can add a link to the name page to encourage people to add or select names. Now that you know all of the conference themes, perhaps it is easier to think of a related name that describes the value we will provide. On the website section, your could start by writing the heading for the web pages. You should look at Central Peel Conference and other conferences for ideas. See what other Marketing Managers have added to the Wiki and get them thinking of ideas as well. Some of the material the CEO has created will go on the website.

Looks like some good edits on Branding. Make sure you read the info the other teams have about their management content and software applications. Is there some words that summarize the purpose of the conference. Learning about changes in the economy, business , and technology and using technology to help students and business people succeed? Encourage the other students to also give feedback, but your are going in the right direction.
